I'm impatiently waiting for cold weather - or cool enough - to wear over-the-knee boots again. It's definitely one of my favorite shoe trends the past season or so and particularly love giving simple outfits a little something extra. I tend to gravitate towards a loose fitting tshirt paired with leathery pants or jeans with over the knee boots but they are quite versatile and style well with skirts and dresses too. Since they are over the knee, I do though balance the height with longer pieces and silhouettes.
And while they may seem intimating for some, there's some tricks on how to make it less overwhelming.
1 - Try a tonal outfit like all black to mute the height of the boot shafts.
2 - Keep other accessories to a minimum.
3 - Suede leather is more subtle for over the knee boots (for me at least!)
4 - Find a toe shape that is flattering for you. Pointy toe may not be for everyone but an almond shape toe may be more flattering for some legs.
