Sometimes all you really need is black and white and an oversized blazer. For the past week, ever since I've been obsessing about Balmain's Pre-Fall 2012, all I can think about is an oversized blazer - and well, the whole damn collection. It's exactly what I crave - skinny and/or wide leg pants, perfect leather jackets, a smattering of prints, turtlenecks and the blazers with insanely strong shoulders. It's the epitome of clean, streamlined silhouettes. I want Pre-Fall now.

Balmain has got me on the hunt for my match-made in blazer heaven but until then - I highjacked the bf's blazer. It's not quite perfection but will do for now. Staying streamlined, I paired with skinny jeans that I've forgotten about and now revived, a mixed metallic helping of cuffs and collars and pointed-toe boots.

For me, jewelry isn't about cute hearts and flowers. I prefer something a little more raw. Something that makes a statement like shark teeth, claws and just simply interesting pieces of metal. And while I didn't intend on picking out pieces that can double as weapons, it could come in handy. You never know.

Sometimes I like outfits that appear really simple but pieces are more complicated than they look at closer inspection. Like, sure its a jacket but it's a big abominable snowman one. Or yes it's a white t-shirt but the whole backside is shredded into a complicated spider web - complements of my sweet friend from Rouge et Noir. (If you haven't seen her site yet, you really should.)

The idea of complicated/simpleness is an easy favorite of mine.

And perhaps from staring at Spring and Resort collections, super clean (nearly) all-white palettes look so good right now too.

Aside from the simple but not pieces, yes - I'm freakin wearing sneakers. I wish I could say that these are the Marant babies that I have been lusting for but they are actually from Aldo and quite comfortable I might add. I haven't worn sneakers (unless at the gym and even then my friends swear I run in heels) in an insanely long time but after an unfortunate stumble on the stairs and slightly twisting my ankle - sneakers aren't so bad. But I can't wait to return to my usual schedule program of heels.

A little behind the scenes from the photoshoot I did last week with photographer Terence Patrick. He's been a longtime friend of mine and I can almost remember the day when he first started shooting about 10 years ago and we drove off to SF to play/shoot.

It was a black and white themed shoot that we did at night in the streets of LA. Terence found some perfectly awesome themed walls that contrasted against our looks quite nicely. And yup... I use the Mango polka-dot dress I wore to the Tony Duquette for Coach event.

Tony Duquette for Coach Launch Party

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the private launch party for the Tony Duquette for Coach collaboration in Beverly Hills hosted by Hutton Wilkinson, the president of Tony Duquette. The collaborative collection "The Jewels of Tony Duquette" was inspired by the super gorgeous over-the-top jewelry of Tony Duquette and his legendary Dawnridge estate.

I've seen and tried on the real Tony Duquette jewelry and was so pleasantly surprised with this much more affordable collection with Coach. It still embraced everything Tony Duquette stands for - which is basically "more is more". My favorite piece was the spike necklace (first picture) made of brass and it had some awesome weight to it. Paula Harvey the designer from Coach was wearing it with the matching bracelet against an ensemble of all black, and honestly I couldn't stop staring at how gorgeous it was.

I didn't have time to take proper outfit pics but I snapped one with my 4g mytouch phone camera (which I'm actually getting quite addicted to) of my floor-sweeping black and white polka-dot dress.

Last weekend, the boy and I went to the Getty Museum to shoot and play more with my Canon 7D and have a cute little picnic with delicious salt and vinegar pringles.

I'm not really a fan of the art/exhibits there but I love the grassy areas and the garden, which is where I spent plenty of time taking pictures of flowers and shrubs.

Still really obsessed with my silver pants... they have become an easy alternative to black pants and are my kinda of neutral. Maybe when I am in the mood for color... I'll wear with pink.

I finally got around to wearing my studded jacket and I have to say I kinda really love. Can't remember the last time I wore something with studs but this jacket just feels so right with the matte black studs. I paired it with my sheer floral top I got from LF a while back... I love the romantic draping of the floral shirt against leather pants and studs. Soft and hard at its best.

Super awesomeness... Jeffrey Campbell restocked these Nation boots at Solestruck. Do I need a backup pair?

It seems like it's been forever but it's finally time for my last challenge for the Jane by Design contest.

For this challenge, we were to watch the premiere of the show, which aired last night on ABC Family, and pick a character to do a "get the look."

For me, the person that really stood out was Nick Roux, also known as Billy the best friend. I am always one to borrow from the boys and appreciate a bit of androgyny. As Jane entertained us as she went through her mini-dramas in her heels and poofy skirts, I was fixated on Billy's outfits and constantly obsessed with his leather jacket, raccoon t-shirt, double knuckle rings, simple bracelets and simple pants/tee/jacket look. Not gonna lie - I kinda wanted to steal his outfits and make them mine. So it's most appropriate that my "get the look" is an interpretation of Billy's looks and how I would wear it.

With the first look, Billy's striped tee, leather jacket and slightly purple pants is perfect for a casual a day with friends or shopping. I paired the look with Rick Owens sneakers for a cool vibe and incorporated Billy's accessories of double rings, watch, bracelets, necklace and a canvas messenger that steers the look away from being too "tough."

For the second look, on a Jane by Design poster, he's easy cool in black and leopard. I styled a black top on black pants, included the leopard tie because there is nothing cooler than a girl sporting a tie and switched his leopard sneakers for booties for a touch a feminine. All Billy accessories included, of course.

Jane by Design. Challenge #6. Inspired by a Pretzel.

Finally my long awaited Challenge #6… for this challenge wewere given bags of pretzels and to get inspired and create something amazing.

When I first looked at the pretzels, my first thought wasspikes, possible jewelry pieces, maybe a necklace. But before I started to diveinto that, I took a deeper look and thought about what pretzels really make methink of and what it reminds me of. Twists, braids, loops and Wetzel Pretzel's hotdog pretzel came to mind. Andthen I thought what if I “wore” a pretzel? How would I wear a pretzel? I beganto imagine how I would wear the loops of pretzel and it reminded me of harness.I could see the traditional “bottom” part of the pretzel being a collar and the“X” crossing across the chest. So then, for my pretzel challenge I decided togo a little progressive and abstract and create a top with braided “pretzel harness”that would loop around the neck and criss-cross across the chest.

To make the top, I took two shirts – one long sleeve tocreate the shirt and a short sleeve shirt to cut up for the braids. I cut upthe shirt in long strips about two inches wide and took three strips and sewedone side of the ends together. Once they were sewn, I braided the strandstogether to get a thick braid. I did a few braids to make sure I had enough toloop around the neck and create a pretzel-like pattern. Then I laid the braidson the long sleeve shirt and sewed them to the shirt. The process is a simpleone but does require a decent amount of time.

Jane by Design. Challenge #5. Taking the White Button Up Shirt from Day to Night.

Thank you for everyone's support to take me to round 5 of the Jane by Design Style Challenge! For the fifth challenge, we had to show how we would style a white button up shirt from a daytime at the office look to a nighttime cocktail party ensemble.

For daytime at the office - and I understand as an editor/designer my office might be different from others - but I love the idea of layering different button up shirts together. So I layered the white button up shirt over a snakeprint button up for textural contrast and finished it with my long trench vest. The layers work well together because the snakeprint button up is flowy while the other two are more structured. I maintained an easy, streamlined look with black fitted pants and asymmetrical pumps.

To take the white button up to nighttime... I layered it over a long maxi dress and added on a bold statement collar necklace. I always believe a good dose of jewelry can transform a simple look and make it cocktail party ready. In this case I added the collar necklace under the collar of the shirt to fancy it up. To finish the outfit, I added my white faux fur coat for a glamorous touch. I especially love to wear fur to a party because it's always a conversation starter. But whether it's a fur coat or perhaps a bold necklace, I recommend wearing an eye-catching piece that will make others want to come up and meet you.

And finally, you may not be able to see, but I am wearing a pair of wedge booties. I chose wedges because they are comfortable and add an edge to the feminine dress, but also because they are 5 inches high and I always want to be as tall as possible at a party.

The goal is to educate society about the issues of modern dayslavery, sex trafficking, child labor and humans rights violations, so morepeople will consciously purchase and increase the demand for ethically producedgoods.

Jane by Design. Challenge #4. The Ugly Christmas Sweater Transformation.

Happy Holidays everyone! Hope you guys had a magical timewhether you’re eating and hanging out with family or vacationing in warmerweather!

Along with cooking for the family – my sister wanted me tomake three meals but we comprised at two – I was also working on my fourth Janeby Design challenge. The challenge? To take an ugly Christmas sweater and turnit into something spectacular.

For this Fall/Winter 2011 season one of my favorite categorytrends are pants. After years of wearing tights and leggings, pants just seemright again and I am obsessed! They have become a popular statement piece in bold prints,vibrant colors and unique materials like metallics, snakeskin and sequins. Plus - sweater shorts were major last year and now it's sweater-knit pants turn!
Sofor Challenge #4, I thought it would be fun to create festive holiday knit and fauxleather pants. The idea was to take the ugly Christmas sweater Jane by Designsent me and use it create knit panels on faux leather pants.

To start, I took a pair of faux leather pants that had smallpanels on the pant leg and carefully with a seam ripper, I ripped open theoutstep of the pant legs so I can add in the knit material. Then, using thepant leg as a pattern guide, I outline the shape I needed using the backside ofthe ugly Christmas sweater vest. I used the backside because it was black and Iwanted to keep the pants tonal. After cutting out the sweater knit, I sewedthem onto the pants to create the knit panels using a sewing machine. Once thenew knit panels were all sewn on, I sewed the pant legs back up.

For the festive holiday part, I cut out the designs on thefront part of the sweater to use them as patches. I carefully sewed the patchesonto the knit. And voilia! – Festive holiday knit and faux leather pants!

To style my holiday pants, I wore the shirt with the glittercollar that I created in the first Jane by Design challenge and layered acropped sweater over it to allow the glitter collar to standout. I completedthe outfit with a pair of asymmetrical pumps, which really complemented thesilhouette of the pants and showed off the knit panel and patches.

Jane by Design. Challenge #3. The Bag.

Thank you for all your support from the first two challengesin the Jane by Design contest. Without you guys I wouldn’t have made it to the3^rd challenge – which is to find the purse in your closet that bestrepresents you.

For me, there is none other than the Alexander Wang Kirstenbag.

If you are somewhat familiar with The Versastyle, you mayhave seen this bag throughout the various posts. But just in case you haven’t,I’ve pulled together a little montage of pictures of my Alexander Wang Kirstenbag – and of course it’s dedicated to fashion’s boy wonder – Alexander Wang.

The Spring 2011 Kirsten bag is the epitome of everything Icould ever want in a handbag – almost as if Alex was thinking about girls likeme – or well, me. For me, I think it’s great to invest in a handbag if it’s theright one. Everyone always talks about investing in classics but you mustconsider what is your kind of classic? I’m not the usual Louis Vuitton Boston bag girl or even the Chanelquilted number but I am a Wang girl.

The Kirsten bag is all sorts of amazing and everything Icould possibly desire. It is edgy yet understated with its myriad of straps andminus the obvious metallic hardware. In fact, it flies under the radar with matteblack buckles and rings. The bag can easily pair with scruffy jeans and at-shirt for the daytime and switch to a long maxi dress for nighttime – which Ido quite regularly.

As a blogger and amateur photographer, I always have my DSLRon me ready to shoot so I need a bag that isn’t difficult to maneuver in. TheKirsten comes with easy handles or a long cross-body option to keep mehands-free so it’s my bag of choice when I have to go to events, interviewdesigners or attend fashion shows.

And of course, when investing in a bag, you expect it tolast. Alexander Wang’s entire collection is about a level of high quality andthe Kirsten bag isn’t left out. I’ve had the bag since the beginning of theyear and it still looks brand new, hasn’t faded or has any worn marks eventhough I wear it all too often.

Lastly, my favorite part about the Kirsten bag, you don’tsee it on everyone. I don’t generally like things that everyone is wearing. Oncesomething becomes oversaturated, it tends to bore me and I move one. But withthis Wang bag, I’ve seen it here and there especially on blogs, but rarely do Isee anyone else wear it in person – which I absolutely love.

Big thank you to the bf who bought me this bag for mybirthday. The moment he saw thisbag on my list of must-haves, he said this is sooooo Annette.

Jane by Design Style Challenge #2. The Style Icon Shirt.

With one Jane by Design Style Challenge down, there's still six more to go and here is Number 2. The challenge? To create a design on a white t-shirt inspired by your style icon.

When it comes to style icons, there are a few that are worthy of an inspiration image folder on my computer desktop, but on the top of that list is the very intense Kate Lanphear. She is Elle magazine's style director and consistently lives up to the title with edgy ensembles in a black/white/grey color palette, leather everything, sharp blazers, lust-worthy accessories that can double as a weapon, sky-scraping six-inch heels and an untouchable rock vibe. And the best part is, she does it so effortlessly. It's as if Lanphear rolls out of bed with perfect platinum blond hair and a fist full of rings every morning.

To create a shirt that embodies Lanphear, it must be edgy, dark and perfect to pair with leather motorcycle jackets or blazers. With the vibe in mind, I transformed the white t-shirt by creating a tie-dye print by soaking it in a bowl of water sprayed with spray paint. The water breaks up the paint just enough to allow it to bleed onto the shirt in an interesting pattern. Lanphear wears an extraordinary amount of black, so a dark pattern felt most appropriate.

After the dyeing job, I dried in the dryer and then I cut off the sleeves to give a rockband t-shirt feel.

Because Lanphear loves mixing interesting textures in her outfits, I shredded the shirt in a few areas by pulling on the threads and created a cool spiderweb-like effect. I also pulled and stretched out the shirt a bit because she like her shirts with a relax fit.

The shredded tie-dye shirt is a piece that I can see Lanphear easily mixing and matching throughout her outfits.

And just for fun, I created a look that is inspired from Lanphear. I paired the shredded tie-dye top with black fitted pants and wedges, layered a denim vest over a leather jacket and added a heavy dose of hard accessories.

I've been having a metallic obsession recently. Ever since I got these gold pants here, I've been thinking that I need silver pants in my life too. And of course, I only made it worse for myself a few weeks ago when I styled a photo shoot for my photographer friend Terence and incorporated them in the shoot... needless to say, I sold myself and finally got a pair. No regrets here... adding them to my little collection of pants I have developed this season. Turns out silver is pretty darn neutral and pairs with a lot more than you realize.

My mind has also been contemplating/lusting on the pointed toe once again. It actually began last year when I was designing footwear for Fall 2011 - it was probably my favorite toe character to play with and create. As for my own shoe collection, I started off with these grey-ish pointed pumps and now finally adding a pair of booties. They feel so right with a streamline silhouette and minus a platform. Now I just need a pair of black pumps...

And lastly... with a California winter in full swing, I love adding a bit of fur to any outfit I possibly can. Here's my diy fur clutch... you may have seen it one or twice on my blog but I admit I don't wear it enough. Gotta work on that.

Sock, shoes, sweaters and skirts always remind me preppy school uniforms. Maybe it was because I used to wear a similar formula all during my junior high days waaaay back in the day. But I every now and again, I like something preppy and sweet - hence the sweater with the full skirt.

The red sweater though has become an easy favorite and go-to for me... its an easy toss on with skirts, jeans, silver pants, perfect against navy or black... just right for the winter season. Its also actually cropped but my skirt is high-waisted so you might not be able to tell.... last year I was all about the slouchy sweater but this season 'round I'm feeling fitted and cropped silhouettes.

And in case you haven't noticed, bordeaux reds are major this season so if you don't have a red sweater yet, I definitely recommend getting one!

I love the idea a little black dress dressed down. This number has an awesome embellished cutout collar and fits like a glove. I styled it with a cargo jacket and booties for a daytime look but it has serious potential for holiday parties. Probably something along the lines with velvet tights cuz its getting uber cold here - yes its freezing in SoCal!!

Came across these Luv AJ rings the other day.. been lusting them for some time now and finally got them. I love the simpleness and industrial vibe.

I started the day off in a maxi skirt for brunch and while we were eating it started pouring rain.. like pouring dinosaurs. Not sure why I ignored the weather report and wore a long skirt... managed to run through the rain and back home to get into something more appropriate for the rain.

I love when pieces are extra versatile like this fur vest. With the weather teetering towards winter, I layered my fur vest with my trench coat. I love how the massive hood lines the collar of the trench.. match made in heaven.

Sorry for all the colorless outfits... It's honestly just how I am feeling. Sure there's plenty of color out there and I really am loving red/bordeaux, but these past feels weeks my mind just works in black and white. Simplicity and clean lines speak for themselves.

These pics were taken over the weekend when we got some breakfast - which was a disappointment, I hate when restaurants don't have want you want or change up recipes that were already perfect - and swung by Zara which made up for everything. Finally found the perfect cropped sweater - yes cropped. I still appreciate a slouchy sweater but something about a cropped one feels so 90s fresh.

In my last post I mentioned I spent a day with Michael David of Mishka Piaf. Well here's a look at some of his best work.. oh and his sweet dog. Her name is Fendi!

Michael David started getting into jewelry in 2009 with feather accessories and recycling vintage pieces and wanted to get even more involved. With the help of a few people, he learned how to work with metals, resin, crystals and all sorts of materials to create everything he could possibly imagine. Today, his collection has gown to an assortment of rings, bracelets and necklaces. The stunning pieces can be found at 13 boutiques in LA/OC County as well as Fred Segal.

The newest collection is inspired from Michael David's last trip to Asia. The necklaces and cuffs are made of resin, lace and snakeskin - all designed and handcrafted by Michael David himself.

I was so blown away at his collection and his craftsmanship. (Some pieces takes days and days to create!) But even moreso, I am amazed at his success and perseverance. He's only 24 and has created a brand for himself, is making his vision come alive, has been featured in Riviera Magazine as"Man of Style", and gotten his jewelry on some exciting faces in Hollywood.

He's pretty damn supermassive.

This past week or so, I've been feeling outfits that look super simple - top, pants, jacket - but are full of the little things. Faux leather pants with a tuxedo stripe, little zippers, fun textures, statement necklaces and slightly lighter on the arm candy. Also been pulling out all my pumps and eyeing a couple more...

I've been going through all all the Spring 2012 fashion shows and really gravitating toward easy, understated looks. I'll try to post my favs soon..

On to the necklace... It was love at first sight with me and Michael David of Mishka Piaf at Fashion's Night Out at Neiman Marcus back in September. I think we "ooo" and "aahhhh" about each other outfits, jewelry and shoes for like 4.5 minutes and the rest was history. Major love. A few weeks ago we had a little play date (we were practically wearing the same outfit) in which he showed me all his jewelry collection and a little behind the scenes on how he made it all... Don't know how but I fell more in love. At the end a gazillion pictures, endless chatting and playing with his dogs... Michael David gave me this ridiculous necklace from his Black Widow Collection.

Hand crafted by him... its resin pieces with lace placed inside. Even more amazing in person.

Super behind on posts and have been meaning to share...

A few weeks backs I attended a special Neiman Marcus luncheon with Kelly Wearstler and interviewed the interior designer and now fashion designer. She's seriously the sweetest person and so intensely calm. I've always been a fan of her interior design work so I was beyond when she gifted everyone at the luncheon with an autographed copied of her coffee table book. Major inspiration.

I'm now currently in lust with her jewelry collection... its got awesome industrial vibes, interior influence melted in and larger than life. Le sigh.

Sorry for being MIA for the past few days... I went with the boy to Texas for some family time, good eats and home on the range fun. Its always fun going back. (I'm originally from Texas.. Houston to be exact.)

We started in Dallas and ate like no tomorrow... The State Fair was quite... fried. Withinn 24 hours I had fried fish, fried chicken, fried beer, corndogs, fried sauerkraut, country fried steak, fried upside down pineapple cake, fried pumpkin pie, fried salsa, fried banana, and fried chicken flapjack. It was intense. Now I'm so obsessed with juices and veggies. Haha...

Checked out the Fort Worth Stock Yards... I may be from Texas but I've never seen legit cowboys before. Crazy. I loved western everything, the longhorns cows and the bbq. Couldn't help it and had to have a cowboy hat...

After seeing Dallas and Fort Worth... we ventured to outside of San Antonio to visit my godmother's farm. Pretty sure I looked ridiculous there feeding catfish, getting cow feed and feeding the cows.. tons of fun though. But I know for sure I'm not a country girl... the silence is deafening.

I received this wine long sleeve wrap from In Love With Fashion the other week and with my serious lust for wine/bordeaux/burgundy tones.. I couldn't wait to wear it. (btw... check out their site... so much good stuff I was in a frenzy)

I have this thing about styling a piece in as many ways I can daydream (a lot of times I only wear it that way once and move on to a different styling arrangement). So for this little wrap, I wore it mellow and relaxed with jeans and grey pumps (c/o Shopbop) to try out some exotic tacos at Taco Asylum in the OC. For a little more edge, I paired it with black leggings, a floppy hat, platforms and a hard dose of accessories.. all to eat some oatmeal. Not sure which I like more... I just go with what I feel when I get dress.

Maybe I'll try it with a chubby scarf for when/if it gets cold...

And yes.. new in town are the set of three rings from H&M. I actually haven't bought rings in a while because I haven't seen anything that tickles me and I'm not about forcing it. But these puppies were must-needs and I was frantically trying to find my size when I saw them.

I am feeling easy pumps lately... I got the grey Boutique 9 pumps months ago but they haven't been getting any love until now. Feeling the need to simplify.

As for the tacos... I got a duck and short rib taco. Fancy huh?

Rachel Roy Interview

I mentioned in my previous post or so that I had the opportunity to interview the amazing Rachel Roy at a meet and greet at Neiman Marcus Fashion Island. It was so exciting for me because she's such an inspiration. She didn't get into fashion & design through the traditional route of fashion school. Instead worked her way through retail, got an internship at Rocawear that lead her to creative director and now has her own contemporary line. She's a perfect example that anyone can make it if they are determined and hardworking... like uber determined.

I'm currently having an affinity to polka dots lately so this MinkPink Stop and Stare blouse has been on high rotation and kinda working with everything from skirts to these snake pants - button all the way up please. Very excited today when I visited the MinkPink showroom that there's a sweater version of these dots coming soon... more on that later..

Also in high rotation, this trench coat is the perfect outerwear for the semi-fall we're having in California - and by semi, I mean chilly one day super hot the next day and suddenly burzy at night. Mother Nature can't make up her mind. Can't wait to layer some scarves and knits with this trenchy..

Recently I have been super busy and on a non-stop creative high. The other night my mind kinda crashed and I needed something mindless to relax the soul. So I tinkered around and made one of those nuts and bolts necklaces. I used a leather shoe lace and cut it in threes for thin strands to braid and silver nuts.. quite happy with the finished product.

I wore this dress yesterday when I went to go interview Rachel Roy and had a total moment when I was standing around waiting for things to start. Rachel Roy herself was walking past me, stopped and said "Omg you're outfit is so cute.. totally inspiring me!"
I think my heart skipped two beats.

Later when I met her for the interview she was remembered me from our little walk-by and was asking where all my stuff was from, tried on my lucite Margiela rings and was just the biggest sweetheart ever. I'll be posting the interview on LadyLux next week and sharing more pics of the event when I get all my images sorted out.

The winter white dress is from H&M and I am about to collect all of them. Super comfy and easy wear... Wore it with my trench coat, by itself and with tights and layered with a button up shirt. I have some other ideas on how to style so you just might see this again..

ah red. been crushing on red/burgundy/bordeaux anythings lately. And when I saw red wide leg pants, it was kinda the perfect something red for my fall wardrobe. I've been wearing it with just about everything.. oddly enough it works as a great neutral and with leopard as a great neutral too - they paired nicely together. I have plenty more ideas for these red numbers...

The wide leg is super bonus in my world right now... Love everything wide leg - my selection has grown rapidly.

Anyways, been a big fan of metallic this season. Metallic for anything works for me... jewelry, shoes, bags, pants, dresses, shorts, jackets... you name it - it looks awesome in gold, silver or bronze.

My friends laughed and made fun of me when I mentioned I bought gold pants and asked when and what would I wear gold pants with. If you think about metallics - they are a perfect neutral. Gold or silver can go with any other color. Silver works well with greens, navys, reds or pink. Gold can easily be paired with navys, purples, whites, or greys.

Metallic is still happily working the runways for Spring 2012.

minkpink slasher flick shorts.

My summer uniform was MinkPink slasher flick shorts, something button-up and my usual stack of necklaces. I don't think I could've survive the major heat if it wasn't for my little collection of slasher shorts - which I love a little large and boyfriend-ish or wedgie snuggly. It looks awesome both ways.

I love wearing the white slasher shorts with white - white on white is always a bonus in my book and totally saved me from the heat that day.

Burgundy has been one of my favorite colors to wear recently... anything in the bordeaux range works for me and I love styling it with leopard. Can't wait to bust out the leopard fur to wear with this...

Still loving snake print tops.. I got this from topshop forever ago and forgot about it until it was so sunny that its the only breezy thing that made any sense.

I'm a big fan of tee shirts so when Johnny from The DarkSide sent this one my way it pretty much made my week. Love the skulls in rosary form, the dark heather grey color and yah - the whole "The Darkside" thing is pretty damn rad. (Kickin myself for not thinking about it first...)

He's got some awesomely dark artwork in his shirt collection... some Lolita dreams, Coca Cola inspired numbers (need one), Hannibal ideas and a wicked burger.. just to name drop a few. For the full effect check out the The DarkSide.

Totally into layering textures lately. A bit of velvet legging, some faded Minkpink nightmare on elm street denim, heathery tee and fur - this badass shirt felt right against unexpected abominable snowman fur.

Fur and velvet has been on high rotation in my wardrobe and definitely not going anywhere this Fall. Been stocking up on the velvet (reminds me of my high school days)... got the wide leg velvet pants, a shift dress that still needs to be posted and these leggings. I think there's still room for more.

Total must have for Fall.

At the same time I am excited for Fall, I can't wait for Spring 2012. New York Fashion Week just ended and here's some of my favorites.

I love how streamlined and polished yet edgy the season is looking.

Reed Krakoff's collection with the combination of metallic, monochrome leather and sheer mesh is such a brilliant material mix. Feeling the idea of metallic against nude leather.

Doo.Ri is exactly what I think about when I am in the mood for slouchy trousers. Wide leg pants and palazzo trousers continue through Spring ... I'm be investing more in this department. Love the effortless cool factor.

Helmut Lang. So chic. Another easy coolness with fitted yet drapey silhouettes.

Jason Wu is my favorite prim and proper look. He has just the right amount of girly. The hi-low chartreuse skirt with sheer long sleeve - one of my favorite looks from the entire season. Perfect color combo.

Proenza Schouler always has the best use of prints. The contrasting stripes paired with stripes looks so damn good.
